Bearing Fruit

The Fruit of the Spirit

GODFFIRMATION – godly affirmation and godly confirmation based on the scriptures

MARK 4:20

“But these are the ones sown on good ground, those who hear the word,

accept it, and bear fruit; some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.”

Once you come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, there is something that takes place that shows that the word of God plays a part in our lives.  Fruit is a part of our lives.  Biblically speaking though, bearing fruit is a good thing.  Who wants rotten fruit anyway?  In the passage that is our focus, it is referring to the Word of God.  Scriptures that are spiritually fed to us, must land somewhere in our spirits.  It is up to us to take hold of it, keep it hidden in our hearts and allow it to cause us to bear fruit!

In the natural fruit comes in all different sizes, shapes and colors.   But fruit that we bear in our conduct as a servant of the Lord are:

1.      Love

2.      Joy

3.      Peace

4.      Longsuffering

5.      Goodness

6.      Temperance

7.      Meekness

8.      Faith

FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT

Pastor Turner often reminded us about character and conduct; also commitment and conversion as saints.  The fruit that needs to be emanating from us will show in our character and conduct.  It is a testimony to others before we even speak!

What kind of fruit does our obedience bring forth?  Fruit is produced when we receive the word that we are hearing.  When we hear a preacher, likened to the sower, he or she is sowing the word.  This involves more than just memorizing scripture.  It means an active representation in our lives that makes those around us witnesses.

Is there somebody that is a witness of your reflection of Christlike character?  Hopefully someone has been a recipient of fruit you are bearing.  Sometimes people will remind of us of our fruitfulness.  The fruit listed above are fruits of the spirit so in our own strength we cannot do it.   We need the spirit in any process helping the fruit to be shown forth in our character, conduct and commitment when we have been converted.  We have to accept the word.

PRAYERLord, I lift my eyes up to you.  I choose Your word today.  I pray that I will impact those around me by a display of the fruit of the holy spirit.  Use me for your glory and as a display walking with Christlike character and conduct.  I receive your influence and will give others the inspiration that you have poured into me.  I will testify of your goodness among the people!
