Don’t Make No Sense

Most livable city?

Something is not adding up. In the city that I live in, there were some research studies that indicated it was not the best place to live like it has been touted. Several times the city has been on the list for the most livable city. People often voiced their opinion that it was not necessarily true. Some people have yet to experience the beauty that is a part of the city. To many, it is a lie and a contradiction based on their lived experiences.

At times, I have stated that I did not feel it was the entire truth. But who is going to tell people that certain members of the community are treated poorly and ruin the appearance that they are keeping up? Most people do not share the truth of their own life experience, they are in denial about many things that have taken place. We are encouraged to look on the bright side and to be positive about ourselves. This task can be tough to handle

There has been a changing of the guard with the recent election. New faces are pursuing seats in the justice system, others have won their place in history to represent the city that so many have decided to leave. Is there hope on the horizon? Is it just wishful thinking to believe that things can be turned around with some new faces? Can it be carried out with a shift in the political people rising to the task of representing the entire city? The answer is yes! Yes, there is hope because of God.

Yes there is hope!

As one of God’s servants, I can call on Him because I trust Him. I ask for his involvement in my life and the lives of those around me. I can ask that his influence will override what is taking place in my limited mind. Please Lord, we need your involvement! It is mind boggling how God knew what our circumstances would be. We have to remind ourselves of His involvement in our lives everyday!

We will never comprehend His thinking or the privilege it is to be one of His creations. We cannot lose all hope although at times, life throws curveballs and disappoints us. The decision we need to make about how we live should be handled with careful considerations and leaps of faith! The age old story that we hear about God and His omnipotence is something that we need to believe in. He is not controlling us like a puppeteer so humanity needs to get their minds together and act right!

I love the age old belief that God is!

While my native city is questioned about being the best based on statistics, I still have trust in God. My lived experience does not mirror the statistics for black people and I have been blessed. I am blessed even if I do live in this city. I am employed, have a roof over my head and I still have dreams that need to be lived out! Life is not over because a report came out about the place where I live. Life begins for me every time I am awakened by birds chirping or the light shining into my bedroom.

I affirm these 10 things:

  1. I acknowledge God today

  2. Remember that my reality is blessed with many blessings

  3. I am not just speaking positive words, I believe Gods word

  4. The Word of God stands sure

  5. I am sealed by the Spirit of God

  6. The day holds possibilities

  7. I recognize that I am whole with Jesus

  8. My perspective is shaped by my belief system

  9. I believe that there is good in my service to God today

  10. I will focus on the blessings bestowed upon me, knowing that God is responsible for them.

When things do not make sense, I remember God always does!
