Fear Not, Be of Good Cheer

No matter what situation has you walking in fear and not faith, be reminded that God wants you to be strong and fear not. A good example of someone who decided to be strong in his faith is Peter. Remember when he asked Jesus to bid him to come walk on the water? This was a moment of strong faith for Peter. A few moments before, the disciples did not recognize Jesus and they were fearful. The men of God thought Jesus was a ghost coming towards their ship.

Sometimes in our walk and our daily lives, we mistake the circumstances or people coming our way for something that is ungodly. In hindsight there are situations that we face and it is really Jesus coming our way because we asked him not to pass us by. Peter stepped out of the ship onto the water and began walking towards Jesus. Then, Peter became distracted by what he saw. Although he was distracted for a while, he still had a time of great faith. How many people can say they walked on the water with Jesus? Not many and I do not know anyone besides Jesus who accomplished that.

Whenever you are feeling a little distracted or discouraged, do the same thing Peter did. Just say “Lord, save me.” You can cry it, shout out or whisper it, just make sure you do it. Immediately Jesus helped Peter and asked him about his faith. Sometimes our circumstances seem contrary like the winds but Jesus is still nearby. Remember that and ask him to help you to be of good cheer!
