Hallowed Be Thy Name
Matthew 6:9b ...Hallowed be thy name.
DEFINITION: Hallowed – keep holy, set apart, to revere
It is important to understand that the holiness of God’s name is setting it apart. Do not get caught up in the idea that God is just like any other counterfeit because He is not. There is no equal or opponent that can compare to Him. Making God great in our minds can lead to Him being great in our natural lives. God is our father, and his name is hallowed.
God is the God of the universe and the creator of it. He is actively involved in your life if you allow Him to be. God is the creator of all things, and we are to worship Him as such. Anything that replaces our reverence of Him is idolatry. Worshipping an idol can only cause destruction in our lives. Gods name is not to be used interchangeably with other names that are popular. His name is holy and separated from everything. Our own name does not even compare, no matter how lofty our thoughts of ourselves get.
OLD TESTAMENT
What the name is:
The name of the Lord is a strong tower – Proverbs 18:10 (The Lord, YHWH)
DEFINITION: Strong tower – place of refuge that is heavily fortified
There is safety in the holy place. If God is glorified in your life it is a good thing.
2. What the name does:
The righteous run into it and they are safe (Proverbs 18:10 b). If you are not righteous then you will not run into the strong tower to be kept safe from hurt, harm or danger.
DEFINITION: Righteous: obeying the law, doing what is right, virtuous.
God’s separated name is holy. There is safety and protection in Him. It is the only name that has this power. Come to the realization that no other man, woman, or entity has enough power for you to be kept safe.
What should you do?
