And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in your hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

Romans 5:5 (context Romans 5:5-8). KJV

“I AM NOT ASHAMED”

“Trouble in my way, I have to cry sometime” is not my favorite part of the song Jesus He Will Fix It. Tribulation works patience is how the bible discourse by the Apostle Paul starts. This passage of scripture in Romans gives purpose to some of the trouble we are experiencing. Oftentimes we are patient during trials and tribulations while we expect or hope that God will carry us. There is no need to be ashamed because you have hope in God.

In the passage we see three things taking place before it gets to hope maketh not ashamed:

  1. Tribulation worketh patience

  2. And patience (worketh) experience

  3. And experience (worketh) hope

Hope defined in the Greek language is to endure, stay behind, to await. The word is hupomeno in Strongs Concordance. So if you did not know, it makes the words hope deferred maketh the heart sick in Proverbs 13:12a clear. If you are hoping that something will get better and it does not, our humanity may feel heartbreak. An unfulfilled desire can hurt but if the desire is in God’s will, we can remain hopeful.

There have been times that we have made it through and came out victorious. I remember sitting in my storm and looking for answers. We listen to sermons, find devotionals, highlight scriptures, pray, fast, ask others for prayer, take a break from social media, go on vacation, take a self-care day, etc. You get the point. Sometimes all of this is futile because when we return home or to certain spaces the storm is still there. Remember the song by the Mighty Clouds of Joy, he says “I been in the storm too long.” Sometimes these words loom over our heads.

I have to admit that this song is catchy (Jesus He Will Fix It). This is what is ringing in my ears. An upbeat catchy song that will lift my spirit. Even if it is short, it will help and lead to another method to instill hope in God. Loving the Lord is my choice and I am going to stick with it. How about you?

During times of trouble, we can be hidden by God. There is safety in resting and hoping in the Lord. We can be calm, cool and collected during times that come to test our faith. Remember the trying of our faith works patience. We can see our way out of trouble by trusting in the holy word of God.

Congratulations, God is going to see you through and speak to you in your current situation!

Congratulations, God is going to complete the work that He started. Be willing and obedient!
