Settle Down

What have you been up to? Have you been on the move? We are coming out of time of rest. We had to settle down for over one year now. It was a mandate by the government. Recently, things have changed a bit. People are out in the open and on the move. Some people have been on the move the entire time! Others need to settle down though and stop wavering.

Settle (KJV): to place in a permanent condition after wandering or fluctuation

In a nearby city, there is a park named Settlers Cabin. One attraction of the park is the wave pool. I have never been there but it is a popular place in the summer if you like to swim. The name of the establishment is memorable. We become a settler when we move to a different place and settle down. This does not mean you are settling for less. You are just settled, not fluctuating or wandering aimlessly in life. Getting directives is necessary.

What do you need to do?

  1. Be sober - 1st Peter 5:8

    • Do not be drunken by ungodly things

  2. Be vigilant - 1st Peter 5:8

    • Be on the lookout or watchful.

There is an enemy but our eyes need to stay on God. An awareness of God can keep you on track. Believe it or not, this can help us become settled. If we do not incorporate these two things into our lives, we might get devoured by the enemy.

What does God want to do?

  1. Make you perfect - 1st Peter 5:10

  2. Stablish you

  3. Strengthen you

  4. Settle you

Let Him stablish, strengthen and settle you! You can’t go wrong when you allow God to have His way in your life. God’s way is the best way. That part about suffering in 1st Peter always stuck out to me. It is a gentle reminder that after we have suffered a while this can take place. Allow God to do what He wants to do with your life.

Scripture: 1st Peter 5:8-10, James 1:6-8
