The Prophetess & The Warrior

Key Scriptures: Judges 4 & 5

Sarah Conner in “The Terminator” movie series was on a mission. In movie that featured a black actor, she strove to kill the person that caused the war between man & the machines. The actor Joe Morton protrayed was the scientist that invented the equipment that would become the well known character named the Terminator. The metal morphed became liquid and was hard to get rid of and utterly destroy. I remember vividly there was one scene at the end of the movie showing a portion of the liquid metal that still had life! It was an action packed film that grossed millions in box office money. The actress that played Sarah Conner (a.k.a., mother of John Conner) displayed a toughness that had not been shown in a female character with a leading role. The science fiction film also featured the famous line “I’ll be back.” This science fiction movie showed a female protagonist that knew how to fight a war with success. (The movie was about artificial intelligence.)

The biblical character Jael played an important role during a time of war in the book of Judges. Deborah the judge and prophetess told Barak a woman would kill Sisera. War was a predominantly male or masculine activity, but clearly women played an important role during those times. Although they may not have been on the battlefield fighting, they were actively supporting the men. These two women are mentioned in women’s groups, sermons, bible studies and the like as a means of encouragement. The story is enough detail to let us know that God can win the victory for His people.

Facing Battles

Sometimes we take too much upon ourselves. There are things we should handle and then the impossible things that only God can fix. We should be diligent in seeking God because He will reward us if we come to Him in faith for help. He will give You the greenlight if you need to move forward and give you a red light if it needs to be stopped. Of course this language is figurative, but you understand what I mean.

The battleground is not something we should walk into alone. We are soldiers in the army of God so you are not alone in battle you are facing. There are multiple levels of skills that soldiers need to incorporate during a battle. But remind yourself that you have the whole armor of God and that you can stand in the evil day. What did God tell you? If it is in His will hold the prophecy, dream or vision in your heart while you believe God for the fulfillment of His word.
