Mind Matters
Godffirmation
1st Corinthians 2:16
For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him?
But we have the mind of Christ.
Sometimes we are uncomfortable with our thoughts. We may fear that what is on our mind is not of God. Most of the time it is not the Lord. But, when we take a daily dose of scripture that can change! Your mind does not have to continue racing, keeping you awake at night and the like. As a natural man we find it difficult to contemplate on the things of the spirit. I mean face it, we do have to live our lives but we can live it with a multitude of wisdom if we fix our eyes on Jesus.
When we need to make a decision, we should go to God. All of us are aware of that but sometimes we do not take God’s advice after he has responded. Years ago I often said “change your mind, change your heart and change your direction.” These problems are why our minds need to be changed.
Mind: the God-given capacity of each person to think (reason). Our ability to reason can be based on our faith in God. He gives us things that we do not even know He is giving us! We are supposed to be walking with a kingdom mindset, exhibiting kingdom abilities, and having dominion. For most saints, it just sounds like words on a page. If your mind went to a Marvel comics movie, shift back to the things of God! Don’t be fooled by what the world considers a supernatural exhibition.
Seriously, we need to have our mind operating in consultation with the Spirit. We can make time to do this, there is a lot of time in the day. Don’t you want to be able and capable with wisdom from on high during your new season. The word of God is the instructor but you have to study it in order to know a passage that will help you. Ways to do this:
1. Pray and then listen. Ask God to pour into you the wisdom that he has for you.
2. Meditate on the word of God.
Psalm 49:3 & Psalm 119:15
MIND MATTERS
Have you been captivated by something ungodly? A definition of the word captivated is attract and hold the interest and attention of: charm. You may wonder how is this related, well Jesus led captivity captive and gave gifts unto men (Ephesians 4:8). Sometimes we are in bondage to things that God wants to free us from. We should be bondservants as Paul says to God.
Prayer: Lord I surrender my mind to you. I have held onto to memories of people, places and things that have not been pleasing to you. Please forgive me for allowing my mind to wander and not taking my thoughts captive. I choose you, your purpose, your plan, your ideas, your wisdom and instruction. Thank You for the ability to call unto you and hearing my cry in this hour. Amen
