Shoes of Peace
Godffirmation:
Godly affirmation and godly confirmation based on the scriptures
Ephesians 6:15
And having your feet shod with the
preparation of the Gospel of peace
Shoes, is the topic today. The focus of these shoes is preparation and the Gospel of peace. When we come to Christ for salvation, this is generally not a scripture that we are conditioned to read. We are ready for war with our enemies. Ideally, shoes are for protection. Think about the shoes that you wear everyday. They cover your feet and at times determine where you will walk. There are different types of shoes for different sports. For example, athletes have shoes that fit the sport they are participating in and dancers have shoes that fit the type of dance they are doing. I am sure you get the picture.
The history behind this passage describes the shoes of a Roman soldier. They had stud called hobnails which gave them stability on the battlefield (www.biblegateway.com/passage/ephesians)
Ephesians 6:15 AMP and having strapped on your feet the gospel of peace in preparation [to face the enemy with firm-footed stability and the readiness produced by the good news]
Well, our feet are what we stand on and the shoes we are wearing make a difference in how we can stand. A high heel is not a shoe to stand in all day without expecting some type of pain at the end of the day. This metaphor of shod feet gives us a picture of a soldier in war. A shoeless soldier sounds like it does not make sense, but sometimes people kick off their shoes and are relaxed. This will leave you in an unprepared state when the battle is raging.
There are times when we need to stand, walk or run the race:
Stand – Ephesians 6
Run – Isaiah 40:31 & Hebrews 12:1
Walk – Isaiah 40:31 & 2nd Corinthians 5:7
Being prepared will help your walk with the Lord! Standing on the promises is a tool! Do you want to be at rest or set at one? Keep standing on the Word! Make a note of the scriptures above and quote them to yourself throughout the day. Remind yourself how you can stand firm.
