The God who Comforts

Comfort, comfortable, uncomfortable these words symbolize something different to everyone. In the book of Isaiah, there is a scripture that states “Comfort my people”. In the New Testament, the Holy Ghost is the comforter or paraclete/parakletos in the Greek (John 14). The words of the Lord can comfort you. How many times has God sent word to comfort you in whatever situation you were facing? He has done it for his children at some point, you will know a specific time if you think about it. Comforter means one who administers comfort or consolation; one who strengthens and supports the mind in distress or danger.

God will not leave you hanging the way we sometimes leave Him hanging. We do not pray but want the Lord to help us. We do not read the scripture but want God to comfort us in our time of need. We do not spend time in worship or worship Him as a lifestyle but every time we are inconvenienced or uncomfortable we ask God to reach out and touch us.

Maybe this time is uncomfortable for you because you are not in touch with the Comforter. If you have been comforted by God, you can comfort someone else who has experienced that situation. Has anyone ever popped up in your life that went through something that was a mirror of what you experienced? Maybe they were sent to you to be comforted. Is there a situation that you made it through but are uncomfortable sharing?
